  • What year was Berean Christian School founded?
The school was founded in 1980 and since then, we’ve grown to include two campuses that house grades kindergarten through 12.
  • Is Berean Christian School accredited?
Berean is fully accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and Cognia (formally known as AdvancED). We are also a member of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA).
  • What qualifications are required of Berean teachers?
We want every student to receive a world-class education and this is why our teachers are held to the highest standards. Each teacher at Berean Christian School is required to maintain his or her certification with the Association of Christian Schools International. This certification requires a four-year degree with educational coursework plus additional credits in Philosophy of Christian Education and the Bible. We also want Berean parents to feel confident in the spiritual guidance their children receive, which is why another qualification of our teachers and support staff is that they are born-again believers who are committed to the philosophy of Christian education.
  • Does Berean Christian School have Chapel as well as Bible classes?
We believe this is an important part of Christian education and that is why both campuses have a chapel session once a week. The lower campus has a chapel in the auditorium on Friday mornings for grades Pre-K-5. In addition to chapels, the lower campus classroom experience includes studying the Bible in a daily curriculum as well as Biblical integration into each academic subject. The upper campus (grades 6 through 12) has chapel every week on Fridays and small “Breakout Groups” on some Fridays as well. The upper-level students are also enrolled in Bible classes and learn subject matter that has been Biblically integrated.
  • How does Berean encourage students to strive for excellence?
We challenge each of our students to do his or her best both academically and spiritually. We help make this possible through a partnership between the school, the parents, and the church. We want to make sure all of our students focus on the Word of God as their compass in all aspects of the study and extracurricular activities. It is our goal to give students the skills they need to achieve their spiritual and academic goals. We also want to prepare every student for college, beginning in kindergarten, and continuing through grade 12.
  • Will my child’s security be a priority at Berean Christian School?
Yes. Berean has full-time, armed security personnel. Both our school’s campuses are closed, meaning all doors are locked with only one way into the main school area. The campus has security cameras and all visitors must enter the school through the main office. We welcome families and individuals who wish to see our facilities or learn more about our school, but we require appointments prior to visiting.
  • What is Sycamore?
Sycamore is a school web-based system with a web interface where parents and students can keep up with individual class assignments and grades via the computer. Berean Christian School has a Sycamore specialist available to help parents navigate this process throughout the year. For more information about Sycamore, contact the school office.
  • What are the school hours?
At the lower campus (K-5), parents can drop students off starting at 7:30 a.m. and they are supervised until time to report to classrooms at 8:00 a.m. Students are considered tardy at 8:02 a.m. School is dismissed each day at 3:00 p.m. We ask that all students be picked up no later than 3:30 p.m. The hours of operation at the upper campus (6-12) begin at 7:30 a.m. Students are considered tardy after 8:00 a.m. and should report to the front office for a tardy slip. The dismissal time is 3:00 p.m. Berean has an After School Program, for an additional fee, that is available for students who might need to stay after school. This program provides students with supervised care until 5:30 p.m. The school office is open until 4:00 p.m.

Our guidance department works closely with every high school student to make sure he or she takes advantage of the opportunities that are available. Guidance staff also assists students with learning more about career options and exploring possible career goals. In any given year, Berean Christian School graduates receive more than a million dollars in academic scholarships. Students in the 10th and 11th grades take the PSAT each fall. The test is required for juniors and is strongly recommended for sophomores. We recommend ACT and SAT test-taking beginning in the spring of the junior year. Berean guidance counselors provide students and parents with information about registration and preparation for these tests.

Classrooms are also enhanced with technology, featuring projectors and HDTVs for engaging multimedia instruction. Our state-of-the-art Smart technology allows for interactive classes in keyboarding and graphic design. We prioritize student safety online with Securly's advanced web filtering. This cloud-based solution empowers administrators to customize access to online content, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment. Securly goes beyond basic filtering. Its real-time monitoring capabilities are a highlight for reviewers. This means school officials receive immediate alerts when students engage in potentially risky online behavior, such as cyberbullying or self-harm. This allows for swift intervention and support for students in need. This focus on technology prepares students for future success, fostering digital literacy and equipping them with the skills to explore, create, and collaborate effectively.
