NOTE:  You can purchase items from any of the four vendors that are allowed by the BCS dress code.  Please read the full code before making a purchase.

Here are a few reminders to hopefully prevent any further confusion over what is currently allowed for the dress code at BCS.  These are based on the questions we received regarding dress code for the current school year.

You can purchase from the approved vendors the following:

  • Navy blue or khaki skirt, skorts, shorts, and pants.  Must match modesty standards for length and fit as set forth in the full dress code.

  • Skirts and skorts can still be in any plaid for school year 09-10.  Don't forget that as of Fall 2010, the only plaid that will be allowed is the Berean plaid that is offered by Land's End.  It is called Classic Navy Plaid.  At this time, it appears this plaid will also be available from All Things ID as of Fall 2009.

  • Long and short sleeved polos and oxfords in solid colors only with plain collars.  No piping or lace trim after this school year - 2008-2009.  Again, must match modesty standards for length and fit as set forth in the full dress code.

The only monogram allowed on shirts is the approved Berean logo.

There is a required School Field Trip shirt for Elementary and Middle School.  This is a royal blue polo shirt with the approved Berean logo.

BCS Uniform Policy - Points of Clarification

NOTE:  It is important that BCS families review the entire BCS Uniform Policy (2009-10) available on the sidebar of this page.

  • PLAID skirts, skorts, & jumpers:

    • May be Khaki, Navy or Plaid in color.  (See plaid details below.)

    • The BCS Board has selected a "preferred" PLAID for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 academic school years.  It is Land's End Classic Navy Plaid pattern.

    • The above plaid pattern will become the required plaid effective at the beginning of the 2010-11 academic school year.

o       Note:  BCS is working with AllThingsID and Education Outfitters in an effort to identify a plaid pattern that will match the Land's End Classic Navy Plaid pattern.  JC Penney does not have a matching pattern available.  (If a matching plaid pattern is identified at Educational Outfitters, then EO will also be allowable.  Same for AllThingsID.)

    • If you have already purchased another plaid pattern from Land's End, you may..

      • Wear that pattern between now and the beginning of the 2010-11 school year, or
      • Check with Land's End and see if they will allow you to return or swap the item.  (Usually permitted if the item has not been worn, laundered, altered, or had the tags removed.)

    • If you have already purchased another plaid pattern from Educational Outfitters or JC Penney, you may..

      • Wear that pattern between now and the beginning of the 2010-11 school year, or
      • Check with the vendor and see if they will allow you to return the item.  (Usually permitted if the item has not been worn, laundered, altered, or had the tags removed.)

  • Other reminders:

    • Only solid color polo or oxford shirts are permitted.  Striped shirts are not permitted.

    • Monogrammed initials are not permitted.

    • A monogrammed BCS logo is permitted.  BCS has provided the official logo to the approved clothing vendors that can monogram shirts.
