College Guidance

The goal of our guidance program here at Berean Christian School is to inspire students to excel in their school experience and their future plans by providing quality programs, services and resources in the following areas:

High School Progress – This includes placement in classes, graduation requirements, academic progress, and monitoring grades and transcripts.

Student Testing – The Terra Nova is administered in grades K-7 and the ACT Explore in grade 8. The ASPIRE  is given every October for Freshman and Sophomores. The PSAT is available to Juniors.  Information is made available for the college entrance exams such as the ACT and SAT. These tests are given at various locations in Knoxville and students register online.

Career Exploration – Helping students discover their own talents, interest, spiritual gifts, desires and goals. This can happen in a classroom setting or individually. Helpful websites are made available for students and parents.

Post-Secondary Planning – We offer tools to research colleges, financial aid, and scholarships. Students may meet with visiting representatives from area colleges and universities. The entire college application process is monitored and includes letters of recommendation.

Classroom Activities – Periodic classroom visits are planned to cover topics such as: study skills; interest inventories; middle school and high school orientation; high school course selection; college and career search; and personal resume writing.

New Students – Families of rising 6-12 grade students may schedule visits, interviews and placement testing through the guidance office.

Spiritual Guidance – This involves helping students look for Scriptural truths in their decision making and planning. We also offer prayer support as needs arise.

Testing Recommendations – Our guidance staff helps students and/or parents identify what test(s) are most beneficial for secondary and post-secondary planning.
